Description

Drink•Eat•Walk DC’s small group food & drink neighborhood walking tours explore beyond tourist Washington and into the streets & places where we locals hang out in the evenings, so you can experience the true flavor of the city. This local neighborhood tour dives into two of our city's most beloved areas — Dupont Circle's streets are filled with stately embassies, charming row homes, and fabulous people; Adams Morgan is DC's most eclectic spot, bursting with sights, smells, and tastes from around the world. The tour starts on one of Dupont Circle's most energetic streets. After a quick kickoff, we enter a beloved local seafood oasis for a slider and refreshing cocktail invented right here in DC. We then walk the local streets, learning how DC became the important, eclectic, European-feeling city it is today. Our second stop takes us into the vibrant atmosphere of the longest standing Salvadoran restaurant in the city. We'll devour a savory pupusa, and wash it down with a delicious cocktail made with freshly-prepared fruits & juices, and learn all about DC's largest latino community. We then dive into international neighborhood of Adams Morgan. It looks, feels, and tastes unlike any other part of DC, and you'll learn how it came to be this way. The highlight of our time here is a shared communal beef, chicken & veggie platter of Ethiopian food. We'll pair it with the traditional wine and learn how DC became home to the largest population of Ethiopians outside of Ethiopia. Our tour ends on the U St corridor. We'll learn about it's famous history as Black Broadway, while eating a dessert that honors this heritage. Our evening ends in one of DC' most beloved neighborhood pubs, where we'll have a nightcap as we discuss everything we've just experienced & learned. In between each of these stop, we'll walk the streets in a way that gives you a true feel for each neighborhood. We'll talk about the history of DC as an international city, and learn about the people & communities that built and sustain it. This tour is all about having a great group experience & solo travelers are definitely welcome. We'll get to know each other as we eat, drink, and learn our way into the night in this amazing city we locals call home. D•E•W DC Like a Local!
